Why did you sign up to be a Champ?

I love seeing people making changes for the good of their health, and I would like to help people make that first step. I often think what I would have been like if I didn’t make the change in my life that I did, and I know how the power of inspiration can affect the choices people make; I want to be a part of that.

What does Vitality mean to you?

It means a healthy lifestyle – making health and wellbeing a core part of who you are, to the point where you don’t have to consciously think about it – it’s just what you do. Your healthy food Ocado baskets eventually become your default shop without a second thought, walking the dog on the weekend for a few hours is something you look forward to, not a chore.

How has Vitality helped you to lo lead a healthy lifestyle?

Like a lot of people, there is a competitive side to me, so tracking my steps and Vitality points has often pushed me out of the door for a run or walk when I didn’t want to go. Making sure I add more healthy food to my Ocado shop so I pick up the discount, getting snazzy new trainers from Sweatshop every year for my running adventures. And making sure I hit my points for the week so I can get my Starbucks!

What’s your Vitality passion?

I have to say running, as would most of the people who know me! I wasn’t that active when I was young and became overweight. I turned to running when I realised something needed to be done and the healthy eating came hand-in-hand. I now run 3 to 4 times a week and one of these is running to the Bournemouth office (16 mile round trip). I ‘m training to do a 12 hour solo trail run on the 6th May and I have a 24 hour team race in June. Marathons, half marathons, parkruns – I love it.

What are you most looking forward to being a Vitality Champ?

Hearing people inspirations stories, not just the wild and out there adventures, but the person who made that first step; taking the stairs every day instead of the lift, completing their first parkrun , or who has cut something out of their diet they never thought they would.

Why did you sign up to be a Champ?

I was already encouraging and supporting my colleagues on Service Desk and sharing my Vitality progress on social media. This opportunity came up and I thought it would be great to have the opportunity to share my story and inspire a wider audience to engage with Vitality.

How has Vitality helped you to lead a healthy lifestyle?

I’m a member of Weight Watchers and I have recently lost 23 ½ pounds. And I’ve lost an additional 40 pounds by engaging with other Vitality partners. I use a tracking device that has helped to increase my activity and I have recently taken part in my first parkrun where I met some fantastic people who were very supportive.

What does Vitality mean to you?

Vitality means feeling alive and have a zest for life. Vitality helps me feel energised and passionate.

What’s your Vitality passion?

My Vitality passion is exercise and more specifically swimming. I am amazed at the amount of calories you burn with a mile swim. My Apple Watch has certainly opened my eyes to what can be achieved.

What are you most looking forward to being a Vitality Champ?

I am looking forward to engaging with people and helping them understand what the Vitality can do for them. If I can help their understanding, I am hoping that I can help them make small changes that could have a big impact on their lives. Plus I do enjoy the opportunity to talk!

Why did you sign up to be a Champ?

I applied to be part of the Vitality Champs programme because I want to use my skills as a Vitality Coach and my passion for the Vitality brand to encourage my colleagues on their health and wellbeing journeys. There’ll be a team of us who’ll be looking at fun and engaging ways we can help others in the London office live Vitality.

How has Vitality helped you to lead a healthy lifestyle?

Being a Vitality member has reminded me that wellness is not just about how many minutes you spend at the gym or how many salads you eat, but about leading a life that balances physical activity, nutrition and mental wellbeing. Most importantly, Vitality promotes health and wellness as a community effort and has encouraged me to find a support network for maintaining my health routines. Where I used to exercise alone, I now join classes at Virgin Active with my teammates, attend training sessions with Sweatshop and enjoy parkruns with my neighbours.

What does Vitality mean to you?

Vitality means living your best life and embracing a positive, proactive approach to wellbeing.

What’s your Vitality passion or perhaps speciality?

I think my desk mates would say my Vitality speciality is meal prep, but my heart lies with parkrun. I love everything that Vitality’s partnership with parkrun stands for and I get so much energy from participating in the weekly events.

What are you most looking forward to?

I’m really looking forward to getting a lunchtime running group going. There are plenty of runners in the office who I know are itching for a bit of company
