Your guide to choosing a consultant and hospital for your treatment
You've been approved for treatment. What happens next?
If you've been approved for treatment, you'll need to book a consultant and choose a hospital for your care. We've put together this guide to explain the process and help you find the best care option for you.
Before you begin
Please remember, to book treatment with a consultant, you'll need to have submitted a claim for it first. If you haven't already done this, you can do so via the link below.
Go to your recent claims
If you've already been approved for care, then you can book your treatment in by going to your recent claims, and selecting 'Book first consultation' on the claim you've been approved for.
Search by name, specialism or your condition
You can find for a consultant by searching for:
- The specialism of the consultant which you were referred to see
- The name of the consultant you've been referred to
- The condition which your referral is related to
You can also choose your location, for example your home or work postcodes.
Browse the results
Once you have searched, you can filter by the consultant who is based nearest to your location, available soonest or most accurately fits your search criteria.
Go to the consultant's profile
Click through to the consultant's profile, and if you'd like to continue, select 'arrange an appointment'.
Choose a hospital
Choose the hospital you'd like to be seen at by your consultant,
Please make sure the hospital you choose is marked with a tick, as this indicates that it is covered by your plan. Choosing a hospital not covered by your plan may mean you have to pay the full costs of your care yourself.
Select 'Arrange an appointment' to confirm your choice of consultant.
We'll tell you your next steps
Once you confirm your choice, we'll tell you any next steps you need to take.
If your consultant accepts direct booking, then you just need to attend the appointment.
If your consultant doesn't accept direct booking, then you may need to call the hospital to confirm the booking.
