To help you pay for these, you can include multi-trip Worldwide Travel Cover in your Vitality health insurance plan. Claim back for:

Emergency medical treatment abroad

For trips up to 120 days, we’ll pay up to £10million for:

Emergency medical treatment1 – This is anything that a doctor thinks needs to be treated before you return home
Accommodation and travel costs for a support person – So someone can stay with you or join you while you recover
✓ Repatriation expenses1 – If you need to be flown by air-ambulance back to the UK.

1£50 excess. The most you’ll pay each claim is £50.

Travel vaccinations and medication

Claim back up to £100 in total each plan year for:

✓ Anti-malarial medication
✓ Cholera vaccinations
✓ Hepatitis A vaccinations
✓ Hepatitis B vaccinations
✓ Rabies vaccinations
✓ Typhoid vaccinations
✓ Tetanus vaccinations
✓ Yellow fever vaccinations
✓ Japanese encephalitis vaccinations
✓ Tuberculosis vaccinations
✓ Tick-borne encephalitis vaccination
✓ Meningitis vaccinations.

Unplanned travel expenses

For trips of up to 120 days each plan year, claim back up to:

✓ £3,000 for loss of or damage to your belongings1
✓ £1,000 for loss of money1
✓ £250 for delayed flights
✓ £1,000 for missed flights1
✓ £10,000 for cancelling a trip or cutting it short1
✓ £50,000 if you have an accident (for example, lose a limb)
✓ £2 million if you’re responsible for accidentally damaging someone’s property or hurting someone (personal liability)
✓ £250 for loss of passport1
✓ £600 for delayed baggage1
✓ £25,000 for legal expenses.

Winter sports cover

Love a trip to the snow? For up to a total of 21 days each plan year, claim back:

✓ Up to £500 for loss or damage to your own ski or snowboarding equipment1
✓ Up to £500 for losing your ski pass1
✓ Up to £500 if the ski resort closes (you can claim back up to £30 a day for your ski pass)1
✓ Up to £500 if you can’t use your hired skis and or ski pass due to sickness or injury1.

Worldwide travel insurance FAQs

Our Worldwide Travel Cover covers every country outside of the UK, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. But, if the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is advising against all travel, or all but essential travel to your destination, you won’t be covered.

  • Trips over 120 days
  • Tropical disease if you haven't had the NHS recommended vaccinations or medication
  • Medical treatment if it can wait until you return to the UK.

Most travel insurance policies include some sort of health insurance cover while you’re abroad.

You can include Worldwide Travel Cover in your Vitality health insurance plan. This will cover you for emergency medical expenses while you’re abroad.

The cost of travel insurance with health insurance depends on the provider.

Our health insurance starts from as little as £1.45 a day*. You can then include Worldwide Travel Cover in your plan. How much extra this costs depends on your age.

They’re different types of cover. Your health insurance only covers treatment you have in the UK. Travel insurance covers you for emergency treatment while you are travelling overseas.
