Here's everything you need to know about accessing care with a Vitality GP or clinician

Important: medical emergencies.

For all medical emergencies – e.g. chest pains, suspected stroke, bone breaks, etc. – please call 999 or visit your nearest A&E department.

Step 1: Go to Care Hub to access care

Whether you need to see a Vitality GP, or you're not sure what kind of care you need, Care Hub is the place to start.

Log in to Care Hub and select 'See a Vitality GP or clinician' to see available GP options on your plan.

Go to Care Hub

Step 2: Book your consultation in

Did you know you can self-refer for some conditions, like muscular skeletal problems or mental health, with no need to see a GP first?

Before you book, check you're not able to self-refer for the care you need, as you may not need a GP appointment at all.

If you can't self-refer for your condition and still need care, then you'll need to arrange a consultation with a Vitality GP or clinician.

If you've not signed up before, you'll be prompted to give a few details about yourself and upload a selfie, just so we can confirm your identity.

Step 3: Attend your consultation

Attend your consultation with a GP or clinician. Give as much detail about your condition as possible, like how long it's been going on for and what areas of your body if any it's affecting.

The clinician or GP will advise on what they think the best next steps for your care are, which may involve giving medical advice, issuing a prescription or referring you to see a specialist for your condition.

Step 4: Your next steps

The GP or clinician reviewing the information about your condition will tell you what the best care for your condition is. this could be:
  • Medical advice
  • A prescription
  • A referral to see a consultant
  • A recommendation of Vitality partners who may be able to help

If you are referred to see a consultant, you can see the status of your claim online, in your recent claims.

If you are issued with a prescription, you can read about how to do this below.

How to collect a prescription

If the Vitality GP prescribes you any medication, you’ll be sent an email as well as a text after your consultation with details of how to collect it.

If you have the Primary Care Benefit as part of your plan, you may be able to claim back the costs of any prescriptions. To do this, Pay for the medication yourself and make sure you get an itemised receipt. Email a copy of your receipt, along with your plan number, to [email protected]. Please clearly state that you’d like to be reimbursed from your Primary Care benefit.
