New weight loss benefit live
Vitality has today confirmed that the first benefit under its industry-first partnership with Boots is now live, with eligible members now able to access discounted weight loss support through the Boots Online Doctor Weight Loss Service.
From today, qualifying Vitality members can receive up to 25% discount, tiered by Vitality status, on Boots Online Doctor’s clinically led weight loss service.
The service combines clinical eligibility assessment, prescribing and ongoing oversight with wrap-around support, including structured behavioural and lifestyle coaching from qualified coaches, nutritionists and dietitians specialising in weight management and behavioural psychology. Members can also access progress tracking and a 12-month aftercare programme*, with treatment delivered in line with UK clinical guidelines and eligibility criteria.
Announced earlier this year, the partnership marks a significant step in how health insurers can support long-term prevention, behaviour change and access to regulated weight management services. The launch builds on Vitality becoming the first UK health insurer to offer weight loss medication as part of a holistic weight management programme in 2025 and reflects growing member demand for clinically supported treatment alongside lifestyle and behavioural support.
Crucially, the benefit has been designed to reinforce Vitality’s preventative model. Discount levels are tiered according to Vitality status, rewarding members for staying physically active while managing their weight.
Katie Tryon, Deputy CEO of VitalityHealth, said: “Making this benefit available to our members today is about supporting sustainable, long-term health improvement. Weight management is one of the biggest drivers of future claims and preventable ill health, and we see the opportunity we have here to address it.
“By combining Boots’ trusted clinical expertise with Vitality’s behavioural science‑led model, we will support more members to manage their weight in a way that actively reduces health risks and future costs, rather than treating weight loss as a short‑term intervention.”
Jamie Kerruish, Chief Healthcare Officer at Boots, said: “We’re delighted to see the first stage of our partnership with Vitality now live, helping more people access clinically led weight management support through the Boots Online Doctor Weight Loss Service.
“We know that sustainable weight management requires more than medication alone, which is why our service combines expert clinical care with behavioural, nutrition and lifestyle support designed to help people build healthier long-term habits. We look forward to continuing to work with Vitality to expand access to trusted healthcare services for members in the months ahead.”
The Boots partnership forms part of Vitality’s commitment to preventative health insurance, combining everyday health services with incentives that encourage healthier behaviours. Further services and benefits under the partnership are expected to follow later in the year.
