VitalityHealth and Business in the Community announce collaboration on Britain’s Healthiest Workplace

  • VitalityHealth and Business in the Community announce collaboration on the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace initiative.
  • Louise Aston, Director of Wellbeing at Business in the Community, to join the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace Advisory Board.

VitalityHealth and Business in the Community have announced a collaboration on Britain’s Healthiest Workplace from 2017. Britain’s Healthiest Workplace is the UK’s largest and most comprehensive workplace wellness study, with over 400 organisations and 100,000 individual employees taking part since inception in 2013. It was developed by VitalityHealth and is delivered in partnership with the University of Cambridge, RAND Europe, the Financial Times, and Mercer.

As part of the collaboration, Louise Aston, Business in the Community’s Director of Wellbeing, will join the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace Advisory Board, a panel of leading experts that is chaired by Dame Carol Black. In addition, the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace survey questions have been aligned to Business in the Community’s Workwell Model, which provides employers with an integrated approach to physical and mental health.

Business in the Community will jointly promote the study to its membership of more than 800 organisations, as a mechanism to measure, compare and improve the health and wellbeing issues affecting their employees. The collaboration includes bespoke insights for Business in the Community members, on an opt-in basis.

Shaun Subel, Director of Strategy at Vitality Health, said: “We are excited to be working with Business in the Community, and to welcome Louise Aston to the Britain’s Healthiest Workplace Advisory Board. As a leading authority on workplace issues, Business in the Community will add meaningful insights to the development of the survey, while this collaboration also offers a great opportunity to extend the reach of the survey across the UK.”

Louise Aston, Director of Wellbeing at Business in the Community, said: “Britain’s Healthiest Workplace offers employers an incredibly useful insight into the health risks affecting their employees. As such, we are proud to be working with VitalityHealth to offer this to our membership. Business in the Community shares Vitality’s belief in viewing health holistically, including both physical and mental wellbeing, and we look forward to working together to help UK employers and employees recognise the importance of workplace health and wellbeing.”

Vitality – changing health and life insurance for good
Vitality is the insurance business that helps people understand how they can improve their own personal health. Vitality makes it cheaper and easier for its members to get healthy and gives them rewards to keep them motivated, through a range of discounts and incentives.

Vitality Ambassadors Jessica Ennis-Hill, Jonny Wilkinson, Joe Root and Maro Itoje are role models who embody the values of Vitality. They are all using their passion for living a healthy lifestyle to motivate others to make positive changes. Taking small steps today can dramatically improve wellbeing over the long-term, regardless of your current state of health.

VitalityHealth is one of the UK’s leading private medical insurers and has pioneered the ‘shared-value’ insurance model. This is a unique approach to insurance that uses incentives to motivate better lifestyle choices among members, which translates into lower mortality and morbidity risk over time. The effect is positive for all stakeholders – members benefit through the financial and intrinsic value of rewards, as well as better health; employers benefit from healthier, more productive, and more engaged employees; and Vitality benefits from a healthier membership base.
