How Vitality Care can help

For complex or ongoing claims, such as cancer or psychiatric conditions, we’re on hand to explain any part of your plan and to help you and your family understand the medical advice you receive.

We also help you get the best from your plan - whether it's a faster diagnosis, providing access to the latest drugs and treatments, subject to the benefits included on your plan and your hospital list.

We provide information about treatment at home, where it’s possible, and the NHS Hospital Cash Benefit. Plus, you’ll always speak to the same Care Consultant, so you won’t have to repeat yourself.

Other ways Vitality Care can help

NHS hospital cash benefit

Because the physical and emotional impact of cancer is hard enough without having to also worry about money, our plans give you the option to have eligible treatment on the NHS, rather than being treated privately. If you choose to do this, we’ll pay you a cash benefit.

Home treatment

We know every patient’s journey is unique, so our plans allow you to be treated at home, too. Home treatment also covers eligible home chemotherapy, such as tablet, injections and infusions, as well as biological and bisphosphonate therapies. For maximum flexibility, you can also choose to be treated at home at any point during your care – for example, you can start treatment in hospital and move to a home setting or vice versa.

Frequently asked questions

Here are a few of the questions we’ve answered for our members

Are Vitality Care Consultants qualified?

The Vitality Care team is made up of medical professionals, including Doctors, Nurses and Technical Claims Associates. We’ll give you a point of contact in our team and your own dedicated Care Consultant providing support for you and your family whenever you need it.

How do I find out if I can have treatment at home?

Your consultant will be able to tell you whether it’s suitable for your particular treatment to be given at home. If that’s the case, you can rest assured that you’ll stay under their supervision throughout your course of treatment.

How much is the NHS Hospital Cash benefit?

If you choose to get treatment on the NHS, rather than being treated privately through your plan, we give you a cash amount of £250 per night (up to a maximum of £2,000) for in-patient treatment and £125 per day (up to a maximum of £500) for day-patient treatment.

What happens if my condition turns into something that isn't covered on my plan?

Should this happen, we’ll always take your specific circumstances into account and give you reasonable notice before stopping cover, so that you can make other arrangements. We can also support your transfer back to the NHS.
