VitalityLife wins 2018 Celent Model Insurer Award for Vitality Nurse

VitalityLife has been awarded the 2018 Celent Model Insurer Award for Operational Excellence in recognition of its use of technology for Vitality Nurse.

The award, which was presented on April 24, recognises the best practices of technology usage in areas critical to success in insurance. Vitality Nurse was launched in January 2017 offering Vitality’s own range of medical screening and nurse services in order to improve the underwriting process.

Vitality Nurse offers an instant booking service for medical underwriting with real time results from VitalityLife’s bespoke evidence analyser app, ALLFINANZ Evidence Analyzer from Munich Re. This reduces the time needed to fix underwriting terms for a life cover application from an average of 14 working days to as little as two hours. The nurse visits the client at home, carries out the blood test and enters their medical screening results directly into the ALLFINANZ Evidence Analyzer on their iPad, producing an immediate underwriting result.

The market norm typically offers an inefficient system characterised by ongoing delays and missed appointments. However, Vitality Nurse gives people the convenience of a medical screening by a clinically qualified nurse in the comfort of their own home in as little as two hours from the time of application submission.

Deepak Jobanputra, Deputy CEO at VitalityLife, said: “We are delighted to win this award. Vitality Nurse underpins our shared-value insurance model. We believe in a combination of engaging members and incentivising them to manage their wellness. Members are encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle through access to Vitality exclusive discounts and rewards – meaning they don’t have to claim to benefit from their insurance.

“We’re well known for our innovative products which are rooted in a culture of creativity and a desire to do what’s best for society. We look to collaborate with organisations like Munich Re that have the ability to think differently and bring ideas to life, helping us to continually engage with our members and develop a loyal customer base.”

"VitalityLife is an organisation that wants to stand out, and is not afraid to do things differently,” said Paul Donnelly, Executive Vice President EMEA at Munich Re. “The team at VitalityLife has shown drive, tenacity and leadership to bring this initiative to fruition, I wholeheartedly congratulate them on receiving such well-deserved international recognition. It is a fitting reward for their hard work and innovation.”
