Connect Garmin to the Vitality Member app

This guide will explain how to set up your Garmin device with Vitality

Before you begin

  • Register for Member Zone

    Once you've registered in the Member Zone, use your username and password to log in to the Vitality Member app

  • Set up Garmin device to Garmin Connect

    Download the Garmin Connect app and link it to your device

  • Compatibility check

    Make sure that your phone is compatible with your Garmin device

Step 1 - Make sure your Garmin device is linked to the Garmin Connect app

  1. Track an activity using your Garmin device 
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
  3. Sync to the Garmin Connect app
  4. Check your activity history in the app to make sure the activity appears. Tap the hamburger menu in the top left and select the activity type you completed under ‘Activities’.

If the activity isn’t appearing, re-link your device to the Garmin Connect app by following the instructions supplied by Garmin for your device.

Step 2 - Check your Garmin activity is appearing on the Garmin Connect website

  1. Log into the Garmin Connect website at connect.garmin.com
  2. Your activity should appear on the homepage or can be viewed by expanding ‘Activities’ and selecting ‘All Activities’ from the navigation bar on the left side

If the activity isn’t appearing, re-link your device to the Garmin Connect app by following the instructions supplied by Garmin for your device.

Step 3 - Link Garmin Connect to Vitality

  1. Go to the ‘Activity Tracker’ page in Member Zone
  2. Scroll down to Garmin, agree to the terms and conditions by tapping the tick box, then tap ‘Link’

3. You’ll then be prompted to sign in to your Garmin Connect account
4. Tap ‘I consent’ to sharing your information with Vitality

5. You’ll now return to the ‘Activity Tracker’ page in Member Zone, where you’ll see a green tick and ‘Linked’ appear in the Garmin section on the ‘Activity Tracker’ page.

Step 4 - Sync your Garmin data with the Vitality Member app

  1. Complete an activity using your Garmin device
  2. Open the Garmin Connect and the Vitality Member apps
  3. Leave the Vitality Member app in the background as an open window
  4. Make sure you sync your activity points by midnight on Sunday.

Please note: to earn Vitality activity points, you must record a workout of at least 30 minutes in duration and your average heart rate must be at least 60% of your age-related maximum heart rate for that entire workout.

Please note

In high demand periods, it can take up to 48 hours to sync your Garmin data to the Vitality Member app and for your Vitality activity points to appear on the Vitality Plan Points Statement. We ask you not to close and open the apps again until the 48 hours have passed, as refreshing multiple times can overload your account and stop the data coming through. If you then close and open your Vitality Member app again after this period, your points will be showing on your statement. Why are my points not appearing in the Vitality Member app?

It can take up to 48 hours for points to sync after completing an activity. After 48 hours please follow our ‘Garmin troubleshooting’ guide before getting in touch.

How long do I have to exercise for to receive Vitality activity points?

To earn Vitality activity points, you must record a workout of at least 30 minutes in duration and your average heart rate must be at least 60% of your age-related maximum heart rate for that entire workout.
